Whiplash is a 2014 psychological drama starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons and directed by Damien Chazelle. The film follows an ambitious drum player pursuing the climb to the top of the prestigious genre of Jazz. With his instructors toxic approach to teaching, our main character Andrew learns more than just how to play the drums.

I wanted to make this piece feel clean cut and snappy like the music in the film but also highlight the chaos and key imagery. I explored building assets in Illustrator—designing a cohesive visual language and animation in After Effects — quick snappy motion in unison to the audio.
